It is essential to carefully reflect on one’s action and speech to see if there is any discrepancy in name and reality, which leads to the leaking and waning of sincerity, and consequently causes one to feel unease and act awkwardly in the face of persons or matters that one is indebted to. Once the opportunity arises when one becomes able to reflect and realize what mistakes were made, then one should earnestly do repentance practices such as chanting thirty-five Buddhas’ names while making prostrations to their images, so that one’s original clarity and ease of mind would gradually restore. One also needs to keep in mind such lessons, see through delusions, and no longer repeat such mistakes again.
