定課日程防懈怠,量力安排莫牽強;

Hasting Means Distraction Yutang Lin

Daily sessions of regular practices may guard against regress,
Tailored to suit individual ability and situation without strain.
Great mind is pure and solid; its attainment cannot be hurried.
Hasting toward accumulations is already a sign of distraction.

Comment:

Daily practice sessions are arranged to guard against laziness. The contents and amount of practice involved should be tailored to suit individual situations and abilities. The great mind of Bodhi is pure and solid; hence it cannot be achieved in a hurry. When one is hasting toward achieving accumulations, the mind is already impure; therefore, the practices cannot be conducted in solid concentration to yield desirable results.
