無理苛責不間斷,百般刁難加重擔;

Good Guru Yutang Lin

Unreasonable scolding keeps pouring down;
All sorts of criticism add to load wearisome.
Opportunities for training could accept well;
Good gurus that reduce self are everywhere.

Comment:

Regarding actual practice to diminish one grasping to self, truly good gurus are those who create all sorts of hindrances and thereby provide opportunities of painful training. Such gurus need not know the Buddhist teachings, nor do they need to possess the intention to provide training, and yet they are abundant in the world. A practitioner needs only to welcome the obstacle as training in giving up attachment in order to receive the benefit of their teachings.
