Reverse Visualization

Yutang Lin

The goal of Dharma is to reduce and eliminate grasping to "self"
Most Dharma practices are counter-ways to this grasping
And hence they begin with aiming at the "self"
Thereby it becomes difficult to stay away from "self"

From the "self" that one is so used to grasping onto
To open up and expand to the boundless Dharmadhatu
Surely it is easier said than done

Perhaps one may reverse the visualization as follows
Comprehending that the Dharmakaya that is originally boundless
Cannot be affected in the least by the tiny bitty "self"
And remains as it is forever and ever
From the Dharmakaya's point of view
This tiny and insignificant "self" is merely
A deluded grasping that is like a bubble
No need to counteract
Not worthy of mentioning
How could it indeed have traces to follow
