為了方便眾生深入佛法
凡是求皈依的我都接受
但是皈依之後常來親近或深入的都少
所以沒有都給法號
而是只給提請者法名

給法名的意義
主要是提醒弟子
不再認同原先世俗間的個人
而要從佛法中新生
基於菩提心
致力於長養自身成為法器
將來能自渡並兼及渡眾

希望已得法名的弟子們
都會珍惜此中的深心與寓意
早點放捨原先世俗的自我意念
而學習從佛法來看一切事情
然後纔能達到完整的蛻變
不辜負佛法的教恩

Dharma Names

Yutang Lin

 

To facilitate sentient beings in their entering deeply into Dharma
All who asked for refuge are accepted by me
Nevertheless, after having taken refuge through me
Only few have come to visit often or entered deeply into Dharma
Hence, in general, I don't give out Dharma names to disciples
But grant it only upon individual requests

The significance of bestowing a Dharma name
Is mainly to remind the disciple
No longer to identify with the previous worldly individual
But to reborn in Dharma
Based on Bodhicitta
To endeavor in cultivating oneself into a Dharma instrument
So that in the future
One will be able to liberate oneself from Samsara
And also to help other beings to attain enlightenment

May all disciples who have received Dharma names
Comprehend and appreciate the profound intention and meaning therein
And thereby renounce sooner the previous worldly self-centered views
So as to learn to consider all matters in light of the Dharma
Only then will one be able to achieve complete transformation
And not to become unworthy of the grace of Dharma teachings
