Dharma Practice for Life

Yutang Lin

Since I started to study Dharma books until now, I have been proceeding on the path to enlightenment for 45 years. Up till now I am still continuing to appreciate more and more the benefits of doing Dharma practices daily without breaks. Therefore, I wrote down this short essay as an offering of advice to Buddhists, to remind all that it would be best to sustain one′s daily Dharma practices for the entire life-time.

While we live in the world, too much worldly considerations accumulated in our minds, and they piled up layers over layers. Engaging in Dharma practices daily is like a sort of clean up, and one can only clean up a bit each day; hence, it is not easy to notice its effects within a short period. If one can sustain it without breaks, then in the long run the differences will become obvious. If one can sustain Dharma practices daily for the entire life-time, the practitioner will gradually sense the tranquility and stability that is beyond words.

Hope that this piece of ″old person′s frequent saying″ can give Dharma friends who are engaging in daily Dharma practices some encouraging motivational pushes!
