Blind Spot

Yutang Lin

Even though existence of the blind spot is known,
Eyes could not be implemented to rid such defects.
Having learned about suffering from self-centeredness,
Yet views and actions are still tied to personal interests.

Comment:

People who have studied Buddhist teachings all know the damages caused by grasping to a self. Nevertheless, it is very difficult to realize where one's self-imposed limitations lie. Consequently, emancipation from self could not be achieved. "Self" certainly resembles the blind spot (scotoma) of the Dharma wisdom eye.
