| Lunar 8th is at the middle of
the first half month. Since Guru Rinpoche promised
to disciples that he would appear in his rainbow
body on every lunar 10th to the faithfuls to bestow
blessings and illustrate merits of his non-death
attainment, so the date was moved from lunar 8th
to the 10th. |

Twenty-five consists of five times
five, and thus signifies the cooperative union
of the five elements with the five wisdoms. Guru
Chen originated the view that, in addition to the
traditional teaching of Three Roots, we should
have Dakinis as the Root of Sunyata Pleasures.
Otherwise, offerings to Dakinis should be conducted
on lunar 15 together with those to Yidams. |

| One may make offerings to protectors on the 9th
days, i.e., on lunar 9th, 19th and 29th. We mention
only the 29th so that there is one date for each
of the Four Roots.
Upon these auspicious dates of making offerings
to the Four Roots, one should arrange some particular
offerings for the occasion, and offer lamps, mandalas,
prostration and praises. |
