Let Others Be Happy
      Yutang Lin

Most people in the world carry a worried face
Their countenance so tightened
Seldom revealed a beam of hearty smile
Intended to relieve such worldly sentiments
As matters arose one remained tolerant
Refrained from uttering a few more words
Voluntarily yielded a few more steps
Renounced at once what one liked or preferred
So as to make others happy
And help others lift their spirits
      Such intentions and approaches
Not only would foster warmth and harmony in the world
But also will enable the practitioners
        To broaden their mind
        And cultivate their compassionate sentiments
      Most unwise are those
        Entangled into one mass
Mutually adding sorrows and suffering to one another
    No way to have peace
    No time to rest well
